Description
There’s something quite humbling about this intricate piece. Whoever made it was simply an artist. We found this piece in Germany and it originates from the First World War.
Making tramp art was something that soldiers did to pass the time and have an outlet for their creativity. It is a woodworking style in which small pieces of wood, mainly from discarded cigar boxes and shipping crates are whittled, notched & assembled into layers with geometric patterns.
This frame is particularly unusual with its large pyramid shape.
